Rescuers from Hope For Paws, a dog rescue organization based in Los Angeles, received a phone call informing them about a litter of puppies needing help. The puppies allegedly got trapped inside a dark and narrow cave.
Upon hearing this, Eldad Hagar, the organization’s founder, packed his rescue materials and went to the site. As he arrived in the cave, Eldad strategized on how he would rescue the trapped dogs. He first did the usual tactic of luring the dogs with a cheeseburger.
Eldad said most dogs feel that humans are harmless when they offer them a cheeseburger. The strategy worked at first because six dogs poked out of the small opening in the cave. Eldad and his fellow rescuers rescued one of the six dogs.
However, the other five scrambled deep into the cave after hearing a noise. With the dogs’ reactions, Eldad knew that they were anxious and confused. But since he was there to rescue, the kind rescuer knew he had to show patience.
Eldad’s team then started another round of luring the dogs using the cheeseburgers, but this did not work for them this time. The organization’s founder thought of another tactic, and it was by entering the cave.
The man lay on his stomach while holding a flashlight as his light source. Eldad tried to inch himself forward until he could fit into the cave. When the puppies saw him, they cried and hid as far away as they could. Despite telling the puppies everything would be alright, they kept bawling.
But Eldad already got a hand of three scared puppies and pulled them out of the cave. He left the cave to get some air and returned to rescue the remaining dogs. On his second return, Eldad rescued the last three pups. But before he left the cave, he ensured no puppies were left there.
