Dogs that become friends at an animal shelter don’t usually end up in the same home. However, sometimes, two dogs’ friendship is so strong that the only option is for them to be adopted together. If they are separated, then it would cause the dogs to be depressed.
Toadie and Backpack are two pit bulls who have formed an inseparable bond at an animal shelter. They look so like anyone seeing them would assume they are siblings. However, these dogs are not related, and they have different backgrounds.
Backpack used to live in a warehouse full of mistreated dogs. She and many others were supposed to be sold to a meat market. Fortunately, Backpack was rescued before anything terrible happened to her.
Toadie was already living at the animal shelter where Backpack ended up in. She was very bubbly and social, so it was easy for her to approach the newly rescued dog. The two would then play and wrestle with each other day in and day out.
After a year, Toadie and Backpack were adopted by a Californian man named Jed Ballou. The two dogs had to be flown from China all the way to America. It was a long and exhausting flight for the dogs, but all their fatigue disappeared once they saw their new owner.
Jed proved to be the perfect owner for Toadie and Backpack. He understood the trauma the dogs went through, so he knew how to treat them accordingly. Additionally, Jed understood that the two dogs needed time to adjust to a new home.
Jed was pleasantly surprised to see his dogs adjust well to his way of living. Toadie’s bubbly personality made it easy for her to interact with anything she was presented with. On the other hand, Backpack was slower to adjust to her surroundings but eventually managed to feel more at ease.
